Big Steve Gee – Big Boroughs Vol. 9 [MIXTAPE]

Big Steve Gee drops the next in his Big Boroughs mixtape series, featuring joints from a slew of New York hip hop artists, including Jadakiss, French Montana, Swizz Beatz, A$AP Rocky, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, Raekwon, Nore, Red Cafe, Maino, Fabolous, Vado, Stack Bundles, Lloyd Banks, Styles P, Paris, Mysonne, Red Cafe and Cau2gs.

The mixtape also serves as a bit of a vehicle for producer/songwriter Murdah Baby, who appears on a few tracks as well.

For the most part, Big Boroughs sticks to a grimy street vibe, and though there are a couple non-NY-sounding tracks in the beginning, it clears out for dark NY street flavor before long. For those who get down for the rough and tumble, this is a good assortment of some of New York’s harder edged MCs.

We like the artsy, progressive stuff, but sometimes, there’s nothing wrong with just a good, old-fashioned, gritty New York rap mixtape.
