The latest from Joell Ortiz, “Project Boy”, is a DJ Premier-produced cinematic-sounding banger that continues the flood of recent Ortiz releases that have caught our, and many others’, attention.

From adding his voice to the “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” revolution with his “Nissan, Honda, Chevy” version, to the the radio-friendly “Call Me“, Joell Ortiz has been raising his hip hop stock in recent months.

A chaotically controlled string-drum-heavy track, “Project Boy” is another notch in the Ortiz belt, one that may be in temporary career limbo due to some recent conflicts he aired out regarding his label, E1 Music. In recent tweets, Ortiz claimed that the label was holding back the group Slaughterhouse, of which he is 1/4 of, alongside Joe Budden, Royce da 5′ 9″ and Crooked I, as well as suggesting Ortiz “start beef” in order to fuel his career.
