DJ Genius, aka Rudi Edrisse Jean-Baptiste Joseph, died last night in a motorcycle accident. The Connecticut DJ, who has also produced songs for artists such as Grand Puba, was a well-liked member of the NYC hip hop scene, as clearly evidenced by the outpouring of condolences on his Facebook page. He was also a photographer of industry events, working with www.starwoodpromoevents.com. He was 26.
We didn’t know DJ Genius, but many of our supporters and followers in the NYC hip hop world did, so we wanted to take a moment to share our sympathies, and wish his colleagues, friends and family the best in this difficult time.
We will provide more information as it becomes known to us.
