From Eric B. & Rakim, to Jay-Z and Damon Dash, hip hop has had it’s share of group breakups, internal beef and separation by strife. The once mighty Diplomats/Dipset movement was not invulnerable to this phenomenon, as the rap world watched a once formidable partnership dissolve, namely between Cam’ron and Jim Jones.
Today, as being exclusively reported by hip hop’s confidant-to-many, Miss Info, the two have patched up their differences. As she states on her site, “Tracing the history of the Dipset split and the rollercoaster ride that followed, it always felt like the main problem was a communication disconnect.” This disconnect has apparantly been cleared up, according to Miss Info after an informative conversation she had with both men. Although she cautions, “Ok, so no speeding, Dipset fans. Let’s not call it a “reunion” just yet. But this is still progress, especially since the last time the subject came up.”
Miss Info say she immediately knew something important was happening, as the phone call from Jones began like this:
“Minya, it’s Jimmy….I’m sitting in the passenger seat of this car right now. I want you to talk to the driver real quick.”
“Ok, Jimmy.”
[brief pause] “What up, Min. It’s Cam…”
Jones went on to jump right into the impending topic, stating, “It’s 2010, and this is something I gotta get off my chest…You’ve known us from back when we didn’t have what we have now, so you remember, that above all, me and Cam, we still brothers.”
