Name: Hop Da Great
Last seen: Bowery Poetry Club, 11/22
Known affiliations: Microphone Bully
Noteworthy: Birthplace Magazine first spotted Hop Da Great performing as a featured artist at an Elegant Hoodness Musical Program Media Fusion panel on 11/22. While many artists have an ‘entourage’ on the stage behind them as they perform, the 12-15 people supporting Hop Da Great exhibited an enthusiasm you don’t see everyday. Impressively, most knew all the words (as opposed to many on-stage-entourage-members who are insignificant accessories) and all were emphatic collective adlibbers. Sure, these were all friends, family or affiliated performers, but to see such a group so thoroughly supporting any one act, at least in the upcoming artist showcase world, remains rare. We noticed, and downloaded his mixtape “Bigger Than Life” from his website. We haven’t checked it out yet, but regardless of whether or not WE like his stuff (which we probably will), what we saw should be noted.
