hmmm..well

It's kind of like that phrase, "if you have to say what you're doing, you're probably spending your time not doing it."
Case in Point: H.A.M. Didn't we address this when the 'swagga saga' took over unnecessarily?? Too much for nothing. On to the song..

The beat was put together nicely, put together to make you think 'the [swagga] saga continues.. . . .' The break into the ending before the halo choir (like the sound from Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise') reminded me of 'Easy' by The Commodores. Don't know why; just does. But occasionally, it was so overtly trying to sound epic, that it came off an epic fail. Both Hov and Ye should know less is more. Well, maybe not Kanye who is not really known for being understated.

Speaking on Mr. West, Mr. West, Mr. Fresh, Mr. By-Hisself-He-So-Impressed; 'H.A.M.' wasn't his best lyrically. I mean even 'Good Morning' as an wake-up intro track is more quoteable, more flowable and overall more enjoyable than 'H.A.M.' At least to me. I will say, he still does paint a picture and I can see every one of his relationships in his bars (note Amber Rose aka the 'white girl' with the 'ass fat as shit' and Selita Ebanks aka 'practicing with actresses who are bad as shit' [not so much an actress versus model, but she did 'act' in Ye's 'Runaway']), so I'll give him that. He also seemed off-beat when addressing Jigga.

Speaking of off-beat, what happened Jay?? That first bar sounded like Diddy rhyming. We don't do that here. It was just an ill (not good 'ill') rendition of a Kanye West ventriloquist holding up a Jay-Z dummy (no pun intended, ser!ously); it just doesn't sound right and you know something's off. Even in the chorus, Jay trying to be all Yeezy didn't compute. He should have done like he did with Eminem in 'Renegade' and let the kid be animated; that's why most cartoons are for kids. Jigga's flow is Jigga's flow and his effort to appeal is starting to get overtly unnecessary. We love you just the way you are, Hov!!

Overall, it's a nice track but it's probably going to be forgotten by the sautumn. Yes, the sautumn; late summer, early autumn..let's say September. Honestly for me, doesn't match 'Hate' from Blueprint III and if they thought 'Hate' was the start to something beautiful (which it is), they misstepped with 'H.A.M.'

Seriously,

Cats goin craazy out here. I wish that we had positivity, and uplifting lyrics in our music these days; but sometimes a song has a beat and words come out the mouth and you have a song (I'll admit I've been guilty of it too). Maybe they could call me up and put some live guitar and sunshine in their game.
