And yes OMG... Rap does suck these days. That's why we're doing this. To try and scratch and dig and claw for the good shit that we know exists, since most people are too lazy to seek it out. Sometimes we hit, sometimes we miss, but you got to give to us, nobody doing it like this, not in NY anyway, so it's better than nothing. I hope you stick with us, maybe you'll find something that you do find listenable.

In fact, tell us who YOU'RE feeling from the NY area. Anyone?

In reply to Oh My God.

Oh My God -

I appreciate your reading and responding. First, despite our emphatic efforts (ha!) to be professional in our presentation, and especially, our writing, we are a small operation, run largely in spare time. Posts are sometimes written at the end of what might have been an 18-hour long day, and misspellings are unfortunately a fact of life at BirthplaceMag.com. However, they are fairly uncommon, and as this is possibly your first visit, I would have hoped you would have given the benefit of the doubt. However, I appreciate the heads up, on both the misspelling, and the duplicate wording. I can assure you that the writer of the post, me, is an accomplished writer with plenty of vocabulary to not have to repeat words, if not for a literary oversight.

That being said, I am often careful to not truly "rate" the works by the independent artists we present. The truly unlistenable tend to not make the e-pages of the site, but in some cases, we feel it's not our place to judge. The mission of our site is to document and present the works of New York area artists, who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be heard. It's up to you, the viewer, to decide whether or not the discovery on our site is worthy of your attention.

Despite that philosophy, again, what we said (twice, even) is true. Faceman has an emphatic delivery, and attempts to intertwine a degree of intellect and, for lack of a better term, higher vocabulary. We will respect anyone who takes the time to formulate songs, record them, and attempt to put them out for public consumption, in order to, hopefully, gain feedback to better what they like to do. More care went into Faceman's lyrics than into some of what's "out there" today, so we respect that. Maybe we're a bit fluffy when doing a short writeup. Check our in-depth pieces, our "First Impression" reviews, which go into much more critical detail. Check out our investigative piece on the Guru/Solar charity situation if you would like to make sure we have high enough caliber writing. But do continue to check us out, and we'll be happy to engage your comments, which, despite this one's critical nature, we respect, and appreciate.

P.S. I've been up since 7am. I got out of bed to respond to you. I am not going to spell check this. :-)
