I'm posting something negative about this article because apparently that's the cool thing to do.

Personally, I thought that a website that focuses on NYC hip-hop posting a song by a dude from New Orleans WAS "saluting the god." But what the hell do I know?

Birthplace magazine? Just plain stupid. The article above? Even more stupid. The comment posted by the Magazine in response to the beautifully reasoned comment about the stupidity of your article? Unequivocally stupid. I regret stumbling on this stupid website/blog.

Really? Of all the things that are "wrong with hip-hop today" you single out this "type of article"? Now *I'M* SMFH...

Again, as "NEW YORK" hip hop advocates, we are strict in our editorial policy in that we highlight, write about, target, feature, investigate and share to the pubic, news, music, events and information about NEW YORK area artists. While we take nothing away from anyone in hip hop from anywhere, we have an editorial policy to stick to. That IS our role, and we DO know it.

Perhaps our attempt at journalistic integrity caught you a bit off guard, since in the world of blogs, that's not a concept many stick to, but we do.

Further, we specifically said we like what Jay is coming with. Personally, we think he's a breath of fresh air and good for hip hop in many ways, but as a site dedicated to NEW YORK area hip hop, he is simply out of our jurisdiction.

Despite that, we posted him, even though the connection to NEW YORK area hip hop (Diddy) is a reach in of itself, since Diddy had very little to do with the song. And while we have countless NEW YORK area hip hop artists who also "rep hip-hop proper" that are we are backlogged in writing about, the fact that we even spent any time posting a Jay Electronica song is proof in of itself that we respect what he does.
