Dyalekt – Interesting point. I think album still makes sense, whether it’s sold or given away, if the tracks don’t blend into each other (even though some releases are catagorized as ‘mixtapes’ yet have no such cross-fading..

I think most remarkable is that “mixtapes” are still called “mixtapes”, despite having even passed being “mixCDs” and are now really “mixbunchofmp3s”.

I was talking to a few heads about the album/mixtape nomenclature, especially in this digital age. It’s not on vinyl or cassette, nor are the tracks blended into each other, so what do you call it? Dope music, dope cover by VR. Good soundtrack to clean your crib to, and I feel like it would pass the carbumper test too.
