2013 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival Kicks Off – Preview, Lineup, Schedule
The annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival is underway, and will culminate with final day festivities featuring family events and a large concert for the tens of thousands who typically attend.
This year’s main stage headliners include Pusha T, EPMD and Redman who, along with opening acts and additional surprise guests, will keep festival-goers entertained for hours on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
We recently spoke to festival director Wes Jackson, head of Brooklyn Bodega, the festival’s organizer, who promised a great final day, for families and hip hop heads alike. The first part of the day will focus on families, though food, beverage, clothing and other assorted vendors will create an enjoyable, all-day atmosphere on the festival grounds, leading into the performances, which will also include the winner of the festival’s ongoing Show & Prove series, highlighting the best of the upcoming acts who have competed.
Past Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festivals have added excitement to the final day with special guests, such as Kanye West joining 2011 headliner Q-Tip and a Leaders of the New School / A Tribe Called Quest reunion. It is easy to expect a high caliber of friends, considering the extent of the careers of each headliner.
In addition to the top billers, this year the final day includes a slew of interesting openers, including New Yorkers like Justo, Dillon Cooper, the BKLYN STICKUP collective, DyMe-A-DuZin and F.Stokes.
Also on the undercard, Dizzy Wright, hailing from Las Vegas.
Additionally, hot 97’s DJ Enuff will helm a tribute to fallen Beastie Boy MCA.
The final day of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival takes place Saturday, July 13 from noon until 8pm, at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
