Few tidbits of news from the Jay-Z/Kanye West camp, regarding the release of their anticipated upcoming joint album Watch The Throne. Their duo has an official name, there’s an official release date scheduled, and there is going to be a tour.
First off, as a two-man musical tag-team, Jay-Z and Kanye West have instructed the world to address their collective highness as The Throne. The Throne will be releasing Watch The Throne exclusively through iTunes, and it has a pretty solid-sounding release date of August 8, 2011, with physical copies starting to hit stores shortly thereafter.
Watch The Throne is certainly eliciting quite a buzz, especially after the mixed responses regarding the opening salvo, “H.A.M.” and the similarly inconclusive consensus from the just-leaked “Otis,” the latter a bit more rugged and raw than the former, but still considered by many (including us) to be beneath the level of expectation.
Jay-Z and Kany.. er… The Throne, also announced that they (it?) will embark on a 21-city tour to support the release, beginning on September 22 in Detroit, and finishing up on November 3 in Boston, making stops in Toronto (9/24), Montreal (9/25), Washington DC (9/29), Philadelphia (10/4), Chicago (10/6, 10/7), Minneapolis (10/8), Denver (10/10), Tacoma (10/13), Vancouver (10/14), San Jose (10/19), Sacramento (10/17), Los Angeles (10/19, 10/20), Dallas (10/25), Houston (10/26), Atlanta (10/29), Greensboro (10/30) and Baltimore (11/1).
The Watch The Throne Tour will hit the New York Metropolitan Area on September 27 and 28, at the Izod Center in New Jersey.
