Nicki Minaj, Semtex Interview: Nicki Minaj in London, England, BBC1Xtra Interview [Audio]

Nicki Minaj in England - Interview with Semtex - Great BritainNicki Minaj has been invading London the last few days, pushing the UK release of her platinum debut album, Pink Friday. Among some of the madness surrounding Nicki Minaj’s visit: chaos, fights, and being kicked out of a hotel, not because of Nicki Minaj or her entourage, but the rambunctious fans and paparazzi who are eagerly watching Nicki’s every move.

Nicki spoke at great length with one of the country’s most prominent English DJs, Semtex, on BBC1Xtra, covering everything from her affinity for Great Britain, her various collaborations, Pink Friday, her British “accent,” “Monster,” working with Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West and much more.

Nicki Minaj was named one of Birthplace Magazine’s year-end “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck” for 2010.

Sporting a pink cotton-candyish gumby wig in photos with Semtex, she tells the DJ how incredulous the experience does feel, “It’s amazing to be in the U.K. I don’t even believe this. I’m a freakin’ little black girl from south side Jamaica, Queens and here I am in London! Like, this is a big deal, for hip hop!”
