Fred The Godson, the Bronx battlecat of “So Crazy” fame, channels Biggie all throughout his new track “Too Fat,” a tribute to the multitude of largeness that Fred got going on. “Too Fat” has grown on us (Ha, get it) since we first heard it, and we think it’s a worthy follow-up to “So Crazy”.
The biggest question/criticism we hear about Fred The Godson is that he’s a great punchline rapper, but that he’s not a songmaker. However, since “Too Fat” has been getting radio play out in NYC, coupled with the moderate success of “So Crazy”, it could help solidify Fred The Godson as more than just a battle spitter.
There is definitely a heavy push in the streets to bring Fred The Godson to a higher level of visibility, and with help from stations like Hot 97 giving spins, and industry vets giving shoutouts, as Busta Rhymes did on MTV’s RapFix, Fred The Godson could have a chance to make some noise.
