Joell Ortiz – Battle Cry – Leak From Farewell Summer EP

In case you need to be reminded why we named Joell Ortiz as one of our inaugural “5 Reasons Why New York Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck,” here’s a damn good reason. Mr. Yaowa has consistently dropped fire remixes, remakes, performances, freestyles, songs and mixtapes for many moons, and he shows no sign of stopping.

Joell Ortiz - Farewell Summer EPWhile fans eagerly hold out for the highly anticipated, and long awaited Free Agent, Ortiz continues the stream of hot hip hop with “Battle Cry,” the first leak from a newly announced upcoming EP, Farewell Summer, supposedly dropping this Friday (Sept. 10) (Update: Click here to download the EP Farewell Summer).

In this episode of holy-crap-this-guy-can-spit, Ortiz rattles 100 bars of punchline after wrathful punchline over a smooth-but-anthemic-sounding track, produced by The Audible Doctor.

We must emphasize, there is no reason why you should not bump this immediately and repeatedly. Ortiz continues to barrel his way to proving that he is not only one of the top 5 reasons why New York hip hop doesn’t suck, but why hip hop doesn’t suck in general.

Also apparently in the works, according to Ortiz’ twitter, Covers The Classics, Pt. 2. Crazy.
