Pharoahe Monch ft. MeLa Machinko – Shine (prod. by Diamond D)

The anticipation of Pharoahe Monch’s upcoming W.A.R. Media/Duck Down Records release W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) just ratcheted up a notch with the first leak from the project, “Shine,” featuring Brooklyn songstress MeLa Machinko. This upcoming release is one of the many reasons why we just highlighted Duck Down as one of July’s “5 Reasons Why NY Hip Hop Doesn’t Suck,” and of course, many would continuously place Pharoahe Monch on such a list.

The slick, bouncy, xylophony, Diamond-D produced track is fiercely punctuated by Machinko on the chorus, while Pharoahe Monch easily rides the drums with the piercing enunciation and biting lyrical wordplay that has made him a long-standing NYC hip hop icon.

Click here for a chance to win free passes to check out Pharoahe Monch and a host of other hip hop heavyweights at the Duck Down Records 15th Anniversary show, going down July 13th at the B.B. King Blues Club in Manhattan.
