CLICK FOR UPDATE: IT’S TRUE! LAURYN HILL, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST, SNOOP DOGG AND DJ PREMIER OFFICIALLY ADDED TO ROCK THE BELLS 2010 LINEUP
The 7th annual Rock The Bells 2010 festival series lineup was announced May 24th at a launch party at the Key Club in West Hollywood, California. The event, sponsored in part by MySpace, revealed the lineup for the highly anticipated annual concerts which criss-cross the United States, and often feature many of hip hop’s old and new school elite and veterans.
This year, the buzz rose to a crescendo as URB.com confidently rumored to the world that Lauryn Hill would be the crown headliner jewel for the festival series, in a long-form style concert, performing her multiple-Grammy winning album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in it’s entirety. Also making the rumor rounds, talk of A Tribe Called Quest also sharing top-billing with the incomparable Ms. Hill.
Well, its seems as if, for now anyway, the rumors seem to have been just rumors. According to most sources, appearing in the multi-city concert series is: Yelawolf, Brother Ali, Immortal Technique, The Clipse, Wiz Khalifa, Murs, Slick Rick, KRS One, Rakim, Wu Tang Clan. Several sites have reported that indeed, Guerilla Union, presenters of the series, are focusing on “classic rap albums”, and artists such as Rakim, KRS and Wu-Tang Clan will perform seminal albums from their catalog in their entirety.
Of course, there always may be more announcements coming, so we are holding out hope for Lauryn and ATCQ, but we are mad at URB.com for the time being. Meanies.
