Beamer, Benz or Bentley Remix: Lloyd Banks, Ludacris, Jadakiss, The Dream, Yo Gotti

The monster success of “Beamer, Benz or Bentley”, the Lloyd Banks and Juelz Santana megahit that launched a dozen remakes and remixes,  is being milked continues with the release of the official remix. It’s about time.

The original, a spacey, sparse, head-nodding track was the breakout hit of late winter/early spring, perking up the New York hip hop scene. Numerous rappers jumped on the Beamer, Benz or Bandwagon with their own versions, most notably, Joell Ortiz and Jim Jones with “Nissan, Honda, Chevy“. The highly anticipated “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” video debuted on March 15, premiered on an early morning telecast on MTV.

Just as the hype appeared to be dying out, the official, for real for real, remix just (finally) dropped, and features new music, Ludacris, Jadakiss, The Dream and Yo Gotti. Previous rumors hinting at a 50 Cent or Eminem appearance have (so far) proven unfounded (there have been hints that there may be more than one remix coming out, so you never know).

In any event, the remix ends up sounding like a brand new creation, only vaguely reminiscent of the original, and with a fraction of the impact. Too little, too late?
