XXL magazine has released it’s annual, and often controversial, “Freshmen Class” for 2010, highlighting the ten MCs that the magazine believe are “the” ones to watch for the upcoming year. While the members of 2009′s class haven’t necessarily stayed on the pedestal set by the magazine, 2010′s batch of talent is no less talented, so perhaps this year might give the last a run for their money.
To demonstrate their collective abilities, XXL, in conjunction with MTV2 and Corona, will be holding a grand gala of Freshmen ’10 performances at the Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. Hosted by Power 105.1′s DJ Envy, the concert is expected to present Pill, Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Donnis, Big Sean and Freddie Gibbs, with of course, the standard assortment of surprise performers and guests.
To get a better understanding of who XXL has pegged as the “New Breed of Hustlers”, download the 10 Freshmen for ’10 Mixtape, hosted by DJ Whoo Kid.
