The argument that New York hip hop is somehow dormant is further dispelled by the regular ongoing showcases, performances and events in the NYC-area featuring dozens of talented artists on any given day. One such ongoing series is The Soundcheck, which this month, occurs on Friday, March 12, at Santos Party House.
Performing will be Wordspit (one of the Dollar Van Demos alum that got picked up by McDonalds for their national Dollar Menu campaign), as well as other area artists such as Von Sway, Push! Montana, DA, Rocki Evans, Ja’Shayla, Elegant Boredom, Boognights, GS, Hurstland Mafia, Script Shepherd and Eddie Kane. DJ Gully and The NY Giant will be on the wheels to sonically keep things moving along, Mo Brown Suga is hosting, and Elegant Boredom supplies some fashion.
It’s a great show to catch some of NY’s rising hip hop (and R&B) stars, an early show (7pm) and an inexpensive one ($5 with RSVP at the Santos website or by email to soundcheck@santospartyhouse.com) and two-for-one drinks from 7pm-8pm. If you haven’t yet checked the sound, check out The Soundcheck.
