Lloyd Banks – Got ‘Em Like

“Beamer, Benz or Bentley” propelled Lloyd Banks into the hip hop spotlight, emerging from his normal habitat in the looming shadow of G-Unit patriarch, 50 Cent. “Got ‘Em Like”, a snippit leak that emerged today from DJ Haze‘s Spring Training mixtape, could be the follow up to the smash single he previously shared with Juelz Santana. First listen, it’s no “Beamer, Benz or Bentley”, but we’ll see if it grows on us.

In the meantime, we like the New York unity talk that’s been circling since the two teamed up for the BBB single. We always like the chance to point out that we predicted a great NY hip hop resurgence some time ago (it’s why we do what we do), and are happy to hear that the idea has some traction. Pay close attention, however, to the bubbling New York underground. While we believe that the veterans can help re-establish a NYC swagger, it is the amazing up and coming artists, producers, venues and collectives that we are coming across reporting the e-pages of Birthplace Magazine that will truly take the region to the next level.
