We haven’t listened to the entire album presented by Spills and Jesse Abraham yet (yes, they are calling it an “album”, not a “mixtape”, yet it’s free. We like that), but so far, a couple of tracks in, we hear a slightly eclectic, but enjoyably knocking soundtrack, with a slightly more eclectic and linguistically entertaining mix of emcees, a combo that the more pureist, progressive hip-hop set will probably dig right away. For me, it’s a respectable introduction to these two artists, as well as some of their featured guests (Warren Britt, Premonition, Jeanette Berry, Pete Colon, Cav, Top $ Raz and Dyalect), and we’ll definitely let this play through.
Once you get to know them a bit, let’s meet back here and we can talk about them.
Editor’s Note From Manny Faces: This album was co-executive produced by Felicia Cruz, who (among other things) runs Fighting For Futures, an “organization that uses creative means to empower underprivileged youth around the world.” A worthy endeavor you need to know about.

THIS ALBUM IS THE ISH!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!
PS Cover photo by ME!!!
I was talking to a few heads about the album/mixtape nomenclature, especially in this digital age. It’s not on vinyl or cassette, nor are the tracks blended into each other, so what do you call it? Dope music, dope cover by VR. Good soundtrack to clean your crib to, and I feel like it would pass the carbumper test too.
Amazing album. Jesse Abraham is the best new voice in New York. He’s been tearing up the underground for awhile now.
Dyalekt – Interesting point. I think album still makes sense, whether it’s sold or given away, if the tracks don’t blend into each other (even though some releases are catagorized as ‘mixtapes’ yet have no such cross-fading..
I think most remarkable is that “mixtapes” are still called “mixtapes”, despite having even passed being “mixCDs” and are now really “mixbunchofmp3s”.
