In another small sign that the NY rap world is still alive and kicking (as we have been preaching for some time now), 50 Cent’s to-be-annual ThisIs50.com Music Festival yesterday at Governors Island boasted an impressive NY contingent, with the G-Unit General essentially gathering NY rap together for one big ‘ol group hug.
According to MTVNews:
“For fans of New York hip-hop, it was an amazing sight: 50 Cent surrounded by not just the G-Unit, but D-Block, the Diplomats, Red CafĂ©, Cory Gunz, Maino and newcomer Trav. What a moment!”
And later, 50 Cent was quoted as saying, of the many NY artists to hit the stage:
“They say New York City, we don’t actually get along, that’s not true. We could work together and get more money than we can get apart, and they gonna see us do it in the future.”
