The two veteran heavyweights are combining hip-hop forces on Survival Skills, slated for a release on September 15. Here are links to a couple of good interviews from Filter Magazine and XXL Magazine and TheSmokingSection.
From Filter:
For the first time in their illustrious career, they have united to complete an album together: Survival Skills (out September 15). Featuring production and guest appearances from Black Milk, Slug, Mary J Blige, Talib Kweli, K’NANN, Pharoahe Monch, Bounty Killer, Naledge (Kidz in the Hall), 9th Wonder and more, this is a project speaking for the culture by taking aim at those that are disrespecting it.
From XXL:
KRS: I’ma tell you what’s really gotta happen. Magazines like XXL that cover hip-hop should cover hip-hop. It’s now time for XXL in particular to start focusing more on hip-hop culture and back off from rap music. If KRS and Buckshot can’t be on the cover of XXL, you guys are not hip-hop anymore. That’s my word. You are not hip-hop. If we can’t be on the cover, fuck XXL. Quote me on that.
