50 Cent is launching the This Is 50 Festival, to be a yearly music event, debuting on Governors Island on October 3, 2009, and produced in conjunction with LiveNDirect, AEG Live and Hot-97. Current line-up consists of G-Unit, Kid Cudi, Wale, Mike Poser, Jim Jones, D-Block, Maino and of course, “more”.
From the press release:
On October 3rd, 2009, 50 Cent brings together the freshest hip-hop artists for the This is 50 Festival.
Rapper, actor and best-selling author, 50 Cent unites a diverse roster of artists for a day of performances at The Beach at Governors Island for his first annual festival, presented by LiveNDirect, AEG Live & Hot 97.
He has created what many have dubbed “The New Summer Jam.” The roster includes G-Unit, Kid Cudi, Wale, Mike Poser as well as special guests Jim Jones, D-Block, Maino and more.
LiveNDirect is headed by Peter Oasis, who says, “With the help of Chris Lighty & Jeremiah ‘Ice’ Younossi we were able to create a festival with one of my personal favorites. Having worked with 50 I truly understand his gift to make noise! Fif is the future and we hope that he’ll do to music festivals what he did to sports drinks – change the game’
50 Cent has always remained ahead of the curve. As a business mogul, his entrepreneurial exploits have garnered attention beyond the music industry. For example he recently co-authored the highly anticipated book, The 50th Law, with Robert Greene, the author of The 48 Laws of Power.
Through his company, LiveNDirect , Peter Oasis has been a force in the New York City music and nightlife scenes for over 10 years. Synonymous with cutting-edge hip-hop concerts, he’s worked with numerous artists including Eminem, Common, U-N-I, Mos Def,DJ A Trak, The Black Eyed Peas, Spank Rock and Outkast.
